About the Project
The exhibition The Dream Garden (05.05 - 22.08.2025) by Ukrainian artist Anatoly Gankevich unfolds as a vibrant mosaic of color, form, and texture, where fragments of nature come together in intricate, dreamlike compositions. Known for his signature technique that evokes the precision of mosaics, Gankevich reimagines the natural world as a layered, almost abstract vision - where flowers, landscapes, and organic shapes dissolve into shimmering patterns.
In The Dream Garden, nature is not a fixed reality but a dynamic, shifting tapestry. The works pulse with movement, as if light and air flow through the fragmented surfaces. Gankevich’s paintings invite the viewer to wander through a space that is both structured and fluid, where the boundaries between detail and abstraction blur.
ASF in Prague is pleased to present this exhibition, offering a moment of contemplation - a place where the rhythm of nature and the artist’s hand converge to create a world both familiar and fantastical. The Dream Garden is an invitation to see nature not as it is, but as it is dreamed.
Anatoly Gankevich graduated from art school in Odesa. He took individual painting lessons. In 1993-1994, he attended courses at Soros Center for Contemporary Arts.
Gankevich began his professional artistic career in 1990 and later became one of the most prominent representatives of Ukrainian New Wave. As an artist, he became famous for creating paintings in a unique technique of mosaic imitation. Anatoly has been directing for many years. He left a distinctive mark in the history of Ukrainian video art.
