About the Open Call
Open Call for artists for participation in the “Resilience Formula” project as part of the 16th “New Directions” platform of cultural initiatives (Ukraine) started on the 15th of August 2024.
While the previous year’s “Concentration of the Will” project was dedicated to highlighting the motivation that drives people to overcome any obstacles on their way to freedom, the new project aims to reveal how Ukrainians manage to hold on every day and find new strength to continue the fight. Given that the war has been going on for more than 10 years, Ukraine has an inspiring history of society’s adaptation to war.

An example of those who not only recover quickly from critical situations but can also use their experience of endurance for self-improvement and personal growth is important in this regard. Researchers of such abilities have called it a phenomenon of resilience, which is generally studied today not only in psychology but also in sociology, ecology and even economics.
Resilience can be manifested in the ability to adapt to change, find new resources to solve problems, stay optimistic and have faith in a better future even in the most difficult conditions. At the individual level, such quality helps people maintain mental health, develop emotional resilience and find ways to recover from stress or trauma.
Today, this phenomenon can be seen among both the military and civilians. Of course, everyone has their own individual experience of resilience in war, and at the same time, sharing this experience creates a synergy that helps us grow stronger together.
